Apostolos (Dox) Doxiadis
I have been active online, in one way or another,
since 1989.
Most recently, I was Assistant Forum Leader on one of
the America Online Internet business forums. Before that,
I was on the Internet Connection team, where I introduced
countless new America Online users to the techniques and
culture of the Internet. When the San Jose Mercury newspaper
first appeared online, I ran its Current Affairs forum. I
am also a co-author of The Internet 1997 Unleashed,
published by Sams.net.
I first got into virtual reality in 1976, working with
Space Shuttle flight simulators. That was the beginning of
fifteen years as a spaceflight engineer. I helped train
the crew of the first space shuttle mission, and was also
on the flight control team. After that came work on
simulation, telepresence, and artificial intelligence, as
they applied to astronautics. I have master's degrees
from Stanford University, the University of Southern
California, and West Coast University.
I have also held a Series 7 Investment Executive
license, and was a stockbroker for a time. Nowadays, I
follow my own portfolios and advise other investors on
useful Internet resources.
I was born in England, went to grade school through
high school in Greece, and have been in the U.S. since
1966. I now live in Mountain
View, California with my best friend (now my wife) and two cats.
